2013 Butterflies

I had a really good day out last summer at Chambers farm wood. This was the first time I went out specifically to find Butterflies and I saw 5 new butterfly species.

Dunlin

Travelling home from Lincoln I decided to pop into to Toft Newton Reservoir to have a quick look around. Meet Dean and had a nice catch up with him and he told me about some Dunlin showing well around the reservoir. So I found them and got them in the location I wanted with the sun behind. I thoroughly enjoyed being in the presence of these 3 birds which walked up to me and past me within half a metre.

It was this big honest

How charming

Summer in brigsley

I often go out for walk around the village I live in with my camera. I love to just walk around the fields were I live and photograph/watch wildlife. Over the summer I had some nice encounters and took advantage of some of the sunshine we had.

Nature can be very cruel at times

Cadis fly sp.

I took some pictures of a few bugs I found in the garden on a mirror I've seen it done before and it's at a very early stage so there aren't that great. Whilst photographing one beetle it died, then 5 minutes later it started moving in an irregular way. This worm made it's way out of the beetle's body. It was like something from a sci-fi film. The worm/parasite thing stopped moving after a few minutes.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs

With a day trip planned to the fine county of Yorkshire for a male Surf Scooter at Filey Brigg. After connecting with this fine lifer although distant I headed off to Wykeham Forest for some raptor action but didn't connect with any Birds of Preys. But I did manage a flock of flyby Crossbill a welcome lifer for me also heard Turtle Dove near the Car Park a year tick. So I headed down to Bempton Cliffs for some photography of seabirds. I had a great time and came away with some nice shots.

Black-necked Grebe

Taken a while back. Just a single bird on site at the time I found the bird. For obvious reasons I wont be publishing the place this bird was. For other friends who don't know as much about birds I'll explain. Certain birds are rare breeders and need more protection than others. These are schedule 1 birds. It's illegal to disturb them in breeding season at a nesting site. You also need a licence to photograph these birds. The reason for the strict rules are to protect the well being of the birds and to help increase the chances of successful breeding.

The eye on the reflection looks a little fake, Can't explain why, haven't changed any colour levels etc
